How The Bible Reading Plans Work

Each day our email server sends an email to everyone who has subscribed to that Bible reading plan. The email is all text and does not contain the Scripture passage, but only a link to click on so you can read that day's passage on the web. This keeps the emails shorter so they take less time to send and receive.

We cannot customize a plan for you to start reading at the beginning of a plan on a date of your choice. However, you can start on any day and continue for the full course of the plan (usually a year, but sometimes a month), and complete the entire reading that way, although it may not be in the order you wanted.

Translations Available

Here is a list of the Bible versions we offer with our Bible reading plans. However,, which we use for displaying the Scripture text in all our Bible reading plans, also has other translations available. If we don't offer the translation you desire, but does, you can subscribe to any of our plans, then switch translations each day once you are on the site. This will require only two extra clicks each day for you to view your selected translation.

Starting In The Middle Of The Year

With most of our Bible reading plans, it really does not matter much when you start. Only if you are reading the entire Bible and want to read it in order, or chronologically, will it matter to most people.

Three of our plans have exact duplicates set up without dates: the Old Testament in a year, the whole Bible chronologically in a year, and the whole Bible chronologically in a year, reading from both Old and New Testaments each day, With these you can start at the beginning at any time.

With this approach you do not need to subscribe. When you click on one of the above three links, you do not need to enter your email address to subscribe, just click on the link to the web page for the version you desire to read, then save that web page to your own computer. To do that, while you are viewing the web page with the plan you desire to use, click on "File," then "Save As." Name the file whatever you want and save it as an html file type. Then use that file from your computer for your Bible reading plan. The links you have visited will be a different color, so it will be easy to see which selections you have already read.

(By saving the web page of your selected plan to your own computer, you can read any of our plans in order starting on any date. Just ignore the date and read the selections in order. This also allows you to vary the pace of your reading. The disadvantage is that you will not have the daily email reminder to encourage you to read the Bible.)

Unsubscribing From A List

Every daily email we send out has an URL at the bottom that instantly removes you from that mailing list. (For most people, this URL shows as a clickable link. If not, you must copy that URL into your web browser to use it.) Here is a SAMPLE of what will be found at the bottom of your emails: (But with your own email address inserted at the end!)

To stop these emails, click or go here...

If you need help to unsubscribe (for example, if the above paragraph does not make sense to you), then please forward to us an entire daily email, so we can use the link at the bottom to remove you. Just sending your email address and asking us for removal is not sufficient. Our email program is case sensitive, so we must have the exact spelling and capitalization of your email address as you entered it when you subscribed. Otherwise, the removal will not work -- although the server will send you a notice saying you were unsubscribed. (This happens because the email list program is case sensitive, but the regular email program it uses is not case sensitive.)

When you unsubscribe you will receive an automatic email informing you of your removal. It will give directions to subscribe again in case you made a mistake.

We have 367 different mailing lists. So, if you write asking us to remove you without forwarding one of your daily emails, we will kindly ask you to do so. You can understand that we do not have time to search through hundreds of lists to find your name, when you could easily click on the link at the bottom of the email yourself, or forward one of your daily emails to us.

We understand why some might hesitate to click on a link that says it will remove you from a list, because of those sending out millions of spam emails with a fake unsubscribe link. Our links are real and work instantly, but we will gladly click the link for you if you will just forward the entire email to us. Just hit reply and make sure your email contains the full original email we sent out.

Changing Your Email Address

Please follow the directions in the previous section on unsubscribing to remove your old email address. Then subscribe again at our web site with your new email address.

You can understand that we do not have time to change email addresses for thousands of people. Especially when it is set up so that you can easily do it yourself.
